Improving Detection Rates of Actionable Lung Nodules with AI-based CAD Software: Results of a Single-Center, Open-Label RCT

Can AI-based commercial CAD software increase the detection of lung nodules that are actionable on chest radiographs

Researchers conducted a randomized controlled study (RCT) in Radiology to determine if a commercial computer-aided-design (CAD) based on artificial intelligence (AI), could improve the detection of lung nodules that are actionable.

Nodules in Category 4 of the Lung Imaging Reporting and Data System are actionable. Solid nodules greater than 8 mm in size or subsolids with a solid surface spanning more than 6 mm are examples.

No studies have been conducted to explore the impact of AI-based software on CAD in real-life settings.
