Revolutionizing Road Safety: Melbourne Launches World-Leading Traffic Management System

Melbourne launches the world’s most intelligent traffic management system

A world-leading system of traffic management will be installed on one of Melbourne’s most busy roads to improve safety and reduce traffic.

The ‘Intelligent Corridor,’ located at Nicholson Street in Carlton, was launched by University of Melbourne, Austrian Technology Firm Kapsch TrafficCom, and the Victorian Department of Transport.

The Intelligent Corridor, which covers a 2.5-kilometre stretch of Nicholson Street, between Alexandra Parade and Victoria Parade, will use sensors, cloud AI, machine-learning algorithms, predictive models, and real-time-data collection to improve traffic management. This will ease congestion, improve road safety for pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and reduce emissions from clogged-up traffic.
