E-Walker Robot: Revolutionizing Space Construction

A new walking robot may have revolutionized the future of space construction.

The E-Walker is a tried-and-tested product on Earth but has yet to be tested in space.

A new walking robot could bring large construction projects in outer space closer to reality. Researchers designed the E-Walker, a cutting-edge walking robot to tackle the massive task of construction in space. A robot prototype was tested on Earth, assembling a Large Aperture Space Telescope measuring 25m. The telescope is usually built in space. This will be the E-Walker’s future task.

A smaller-scale robot prototype has been developed that shows promise in large construction applications, like maintenance of windmills.

Frontiers in Robotics & AI published the team’s findings.
