AI pioneer leaves Google to warn of the technology’s dangers

Geoffrey Hinton – the man who is known as the \”Godfather\” of AI – confirmed on Monday that he had left his position at Google to speak about the \”dangers of the technology\” he helped develop.

Hinton’s groundbreaking work on neural networks has shaped the artificial intelligence systems that power many of today’s technologies. He spent a decade working part-time on Google’s AI efforts. However, he is now concerned about the technology.

Hinton said to the New York Times that he had a normal excuse for his actions: \”If I hadn’t done this, someone else would have done it.\” The New York Times was the first publication to report on Hinton’s decision.
