AI-enabled retinal vascular network imaging can predict cardiovascular diseases and death
The British Journal of Ophthalmology published a study that AI-enabled retinal imaging can accurately predict cardiovascular diseases and death without blood tests or blood blood pressure measurements.
Researchers suggest that this test could be used to create a non-invasive, highly effective screening test for those at high or medium risk for circulatory diseases. It doesn’t need to be performed in a clinical setting.
Circulatory diseases such as cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke are the leading causes of death and ill health worldwide. In fact, 1 in every 4 deaths occurs in the UK.
