Our nervous system consists of billions neurons, which communicate with each other through their axons or dendrites. These structures are formed when the brain is developing. They branch out in an intricate, yet poorly understood manner that allows the nerve cells to connect and send messages all over the body. Yale researchers have now discovered the molecular mechanisms behind this complex system.
